The Calcutta Ladies Golf Club (CLGC) is one of the oldest ladies golf clubs in the world. It was the first of its kind (of the ladies, by the ladies, for the ladies) to be established, controlled, and managed independently by lady golfers on their own separate premises.
The club was instituted and inaugurated by twelve lady members on the afternoon of May 7, 1891, in the most picturesque part of the Maidan in the Heart of Calcutta (now Kolkata) with a regulation 9-hole golf course.
CLUB HOUSE NOW
At present the club house is a well-furnished, cozy and comfortable cottage surrounded by lawns, plants, flowerbeds and tall graceful trees, and is very popular with the members and guests for hosting small get-togethers.
Various competitions and tournaments are organized by the club around the year in the CLGC course as well as other courses. There is also a beautiful 18-hole putting area in front of the club house where putting competitions are held regularly.
